SELFIE PROJECT

This is a Selfie Project in which i have took my own black and white photo and make it a bit unclear by using adobe Photoshop. The purpose of this project is to use gray scale.  I have take out the b/w print out of my own selfie and then trace it on the Bristol board. After tracing it, i used black and white paint and black ink to coloring in the image. Mainly i have to show the increment in gray scale values by using ink with water. So there are 8 gray scale values including black and white in the finished product. The emphasis on the images is the eyes and lips in the image because it is painted by black color and the placement of them is in the middle of the image which attract our eyes toward them. The thing i would change in this project is the use of gray scale. It was a bit difficult to measure the increment of gray color when i was coloring the image. However, i am satisfy with my work because i got the gray scale increments as a needed.

WORKING ON THE PROJECT

This is my working on this project. First of all, i trace the images by using tracing paper. Secondly, i trace the image on the Bristol board by using tracing paper.

In this project, i have stated painting with the black part first and then different values of gray scales.
In this image, i have colored many part of the image by different values of gray scale

In this image, i have almost finished with my painting. I was just giving the final touch to it.

This is the gray scale that i have used to measure the increment values of gray color  when i was coloring the image.

COLLAGE PROJECT

This is a collage project in which one collage is maximalist and other one is minimalist, and the purpose of this project is to create emphasis. The maximalist means the picture covers whole Bristol board or your background paper; whereas, minimalist doesn't cover whole area with objects and elements. This a maximalist collage. In this collage, i create the emphasis on girl because of the placement, isolation, color, and scale. The placement of the girl is on the right hand side of the Bristol board, and she has a corn in her hand. There is also a bird that hunting for fish from the river/lake. It seems like the girl is seeing the bird hunting for fish. The scale i used in this collage is that the girl is in the foreground and bird in the background. Because of the girl is in the foreground, all the emphasis is on her, and also the dress color of the girl's clothes is bright which attract my eyes on her first and then on other things. The isolation is also much clear in this collage because we can see the bird in the middle, the girl on the right hand side. The thing i would like to change in this collage is to add more of object which make this collage more excited and interested. And the successful part is the placement and isolation which creates emphasis on girl.

This collage is the minimalist one. In this collage, my emphasis is on the people who are trying to grab the coca-cola bottle to drink. The color of the coca-cola bottle and the color in the background seem the same which make the picture more excited and clear. So, the scale used in this collage is that the coca-cola bottle is in foreground, people in middle-ground, and kind of desert/mountain area in background. The placement is also seems clear because i placed drink bottle on the left hand side and people on the right hand side who trying to run toward the bottle in order to drink it. The isolation is also much clear in this collage because we can easily see the people and background.

WORKING ON THIS PROJECT

These pictures i have take when i was finalizing my design for the collage project.

BLINDFOLD DRAWING

This is a blindfold drawing in which i chose white as a background and black strips to create emphasis and to show depth  in the images. the emphasis of the picture is the building with the black and blue strips. The purpose of this project is to show depth by using tracing papers and one color of a strip. I have put blindfold on my eye and randomly sticking the black strips on the white background with the help of the glue stick. I have stick the black strips for about 20 minutes and then remove the blindfold. After that, i have organised the piece little bit, and then i have cut the white board into five pieces. After that, i have rearranged those pieces and make the new  design which help of the tape. I have created few buildings in which some of them i have covered with tracing paper which help create depth in it. When i put tracing paper on those buildings, the image becomes foggy and it seems like it is more far away fro the picture that is not covered by the tracing paper. I have also used blued color strip to emphases the building which is near. The perspective of the image is from down to up as we can see in the above images of building. I can show the depth by differentiate the buildings under the tracing paper and buildings with the black and blue strips. The blue color strips help me to create the image more clear anf easy to see the depth.

The thing i would like to change is adding more tracing paper on some of the other object in the project. And the successful part of the project is create the depth with the help of the tracing paper because i have never done this kind of art before. Also, I have seen other people's work which were quite impressive, and if i get a chance in the future, i would try to improve my project for the next time.

WORKING ON THIS PROJECT

I have took this picture when i was working on this project.

TEXTURE AND LINE

This is a texture and line project, and the purpose of this project is to show abstraction, positive and negative space with the help of a black ink pen.  Negative space is the space between and around the element of an image; whereas, positive space is the space in the element of the image. Also, negative space create more depth in texture because it helps to clear the vision of positive space in the image. Hence, it makes the texture more clear and precise. First of all, there are four rows in each Bristol board, and the each box size is 3X3 inches. In the first row, i have placed three pictures of different pattern and texture with the glue. In the second row, i have copy the first row with the pencil. In the third row, i have drawn the elements which inspired me in the second row such as little rocks in the first column, windy lines in the second column, and few straight and diagonal lines in the third column and so on. I have repeat those abstractions many times to create a new pattern and texture in each box in the third row in order create more tight texture. The fourth row shows the influence, positive and negative space with the help of the black ink. In the fourth row, i have repeated the elements many times to create more tight texture and shows positive and negative space in it. I have shown the positive space by living the white space in the texture, and negative space shown by the use of ink in the texture. I am quite satisfy with the work i have done on this project. The thing i like in this project is to abstract element from the second row and repeated it many times in the third row. And the successful part in this project is to create negative and positive space.

WORKING ON THIS PROJECT

This is my working on this project. As we can see in these Bristol board, i have drawn each box by measuring the accurate distance from each other. The size of each box is 3X3 inches, and i have made twelve boxes on each Bristol board. In first row, there are printed copy of pattern and texture that i took with the camera and glued it on the Bristol board. In second row, i have copy the same the first row with pencil. In third row, i have abstract some elements that influenced me, and then i repeated those elements many times in order to create new pattern and texture.

COLOR SPINNERS: COLOR, SHAPE, AND GRAYSCALE

GEOMETRIC SHAPES

Geometric shapes are made with the straight lines and clear edges such as triangles and square. In this project, i have created 7 different values of one single color for each of the three geometric shapes with help of the black and white paint. There is a total of seven pieces used in each of the three geometric shape which i attached them together with the spinner in the middle. As we can see in the first geometric shape, i pick the initial color red which is placed in the middle of the spinner. Then i add little bit of white paint with the red to create different values of red which look like orange as we can see it above the original red geometric shape. Then I have added little bit more of white paint with red to create more different values of red color which seems like pink color, and i done this three times in order to bring three different bright values of red. After this, i have created three dark values of red color by adding it bit by bit of black paint with the red as we can see it under the original red geometric shape. When i have added a bit black with red color, it gives the magenta color.  I have done the same thing for the blue and yellow geometric shapes to create different values of colors. The thing that is successful in this project is to bring different values of color, and i would say it wasn't hard but also not easy. It just need some focus and time to play with colors to create different values with the help of white and black paints. I have learned the color mixing technique in the project which was quite fun to me.

ORGANIC SHAPES

Organic shape are the shape that  do not have clear edges such as animals and plants. For the organic shapes, i have done the same thing to bring different values of the colors as i did in the geometric shapes. But the excited thing in this shapes is that it is more easy to paint in organic shape than geometric shapes because geometric shapes have more clear edges which makes it difficult to paint on it; whereas, organic shapes do not have any clear edges which makes it easy to paint.

FIGURE/GROUND PROJECT

This is a Figure/Ground project and the purpose of this project is to bring emotions, movements, and state of being through the elements that i have constructed by the figure. In the beginning, I have choose an Initial which is the letter "A." The placement of the figure is right in the center of the paper. Then I have choose two colors-Red and Yellow for the initial and background respectively. I have choose the red color with the yellow to bring contrast. Thus, the figure is more clearly visible. The two figures that i have constructed are with the help of the initial and the background in order to create emotion, movement, and state of being. The emphasis is on the yellow and red figures and white is the background. For the yellow figure which i have constructed with the help of ground figure is seems like two big rocks that attached with the very weak thin middle base, and it seems like that it will breakdown soon, and it will change it state to something else because the base is really weak to hold those two big rocks. So i can connect this figure to the life because our life is not always the same. It change to something else after a period of time which is natural. The most of the space i used is right hand side space because it helps to clearly understand the emotion that i try to convey from it. For the Red Figure, the movement that i try to convey is that the figure is falling down which i can also relate to the ups and downs in our lives. The thing that was a bit unsuccessful in this project is that the pencil lines are bit visible in the yellow figure because yellow is really bright color, and it is hard to cover it up. However, the successful part in this project is to bring all the emotions, movement, and state of being by placing the figures at the right place. Also i am satisfy with the colors i have chose for the background and initial.

WORKING ON THIS PROJECT

I have drawn a box right in the center of the Bristol board and then trace the initial in that box with touching every side of the box with the initial. Then, i have painted yellow color in the background and red in the figure.

This figure i created by cutting out the initial from the actual photocopy of the initial and background.

This figure i created by cutting out the background from the actual photocopy of the initial and background.

Then i have traced out both the figures on the Bristol board, and i took the precautions that prevents smudges and blemished surface. The most important part of the project is the placement of the figures because this helps to create state of being, emotions, and movement. The thing i could change is that to try some other figure to bring more precise emotion from them.
